weeping eczema baby
My 3 months baby has really bad skin?
She has eczema and it is driving her nuts. Poor thing is itchy all over and scratching until her skin breaks, crying get sore, etc. Tried the olive oil in the beginning, and did not work. Aqueous cream was used regularly and that does not work. Hydrocortisone worked but it's steriod based and I have been warned not to use it for too long the thin skin. Now healthcare professionals have prescribed oral antibiotics. I need to find out the cause rather than to maintain treat the symptom. Any ideas? She is breast and formula fed (was Cow and Gate, but just changed to Aptimil to see if it makes any difference) Thanks
Here is a list of do's and don'ts that I hope you will find useful. Things not to do: – Do not use biological powders Do not use fabric softeners Do not use soap or detergents to wash with Do not use standard bath additives Things to do: – Try Fairy Snow-the old-fashioned powder Use dryer balls Use a soap free soap to wash hands etc. Use a moisture bath additive as Aveeno Use a good moisturizer as Aveeno Use it very often, you can not over-hydrate! Use antihistamines for itching. You may need to use steroids creams / ointments for flare up areas. Use the mildest you can, for the shortest possible time. Hydrocortisone is very safe and its strength is so low it does not cause skin thinning. Sorry if you knew all that already
