hot shower eczema

Help! I can not stop shredding my eczema!?
I'm at the point of desperation. I get in the shower every night just to run hot water over and then apply hydrocortisone. I know warm water dries, but I am so desperate that it's the only thing that gives me even temporary relief. It is all up and down both arms on my neck to my chest, stomach, lower abdomen and thighs. I have tried all cotton cleaning with the mildest of detergents, rinse three times .. everything. I am so embarrassed at work because I have to cover up. I itch so much without checking that I am causing bleeding and infection. What should I do? I've tried all steroids, change of diet .. Doctors .. I am almost suicidal! Wow so many helpful answers! : O)
I grew up with really bad eczema – wore a turtle neck Degree instead of some fancy dress, because I looked like I was covered in raspberry jam! … My son's got so bad one time that he went into hospital to be wrapped in bandages over the top of the really strong cortisone ointment they used …. here's how we check it at home: 1 Cool it (literally) the showers! Instead, soak in a lukewarm bath with NATURAL SEA SALT in it. Salt water clears up eczema surprisingly good … 2nd Take Benadryl or other antihistamine to control the itching so you do not scratch themselves to tape! 3rd As much as possible, wear as little clothing as possible, and yes, make sure it is natural fibers. 4th After your bath, put a small amount of hydrocortisone cream on the worst affected places (except your face … never in your face). Polysporin on infected spots. So cream over it all with a really good quality. My son takes Goats Milk ointment or the white "Pre-whipped" Vaseline to be the best choice. This helps to retain any moisture your skin has, so you flake and itch less. 5th Most importantly, reduce stress in your life. If you are an eczema sufferer, you probably begin to scratch every time something stressful happens. And stress makes eczema worse to begin with. Get a "stress ball" or a worry stone, or something else to occupy your hands and mind when you feel you need to score. Learn stress management techniques and use them faithfully. I understand your frustration and anxiety. It may be better.
