dyshidrotic eczema feet
Dyshidrotic eczema?

I have Dyshidrotic Eczema. I've had it on my feet for three years (it comes and goes) and just two months ago showed it up on both hands. It is on the sides of my fingers near my knuckles. I went to the doctor and he gave me a cortizone cream. This has not worked, and I've used it over a month now. Please help! How can I cure it? What actually works? The doctor does not seem to know something that will help. It itches like crazy, and is so ugly and unpleasant, that I am becoming very frustrated!

So you can see a dermatologist (and most docs who are not dermatologists can not help much): Benadryl (diphenhydramine is the generic name, if you see a penny.) will help the itching. The oral form, not current. It can make you sleepy at first game. Cold water circulating in the area will help, but it is not always possible. Try Aveeno oatmeal products, but they can not help me and test them on a small area for a week or so. Lots of people get relief from itching them. Moisturize those areas (and all of you, but that never really happens) twice a day at least, with Eucerine or Cetaphil cream, not lotion. These brands are often recommended by dermatologists. Use a very gentle hand and bath soap. I use Dove for sensitive skin with no problems. You have to find the one that works for you. Using latex or non-latex (Mr. Clean Nyplex available in my town at Wal Mart is very good) gloves for any cleaning. Avoid all other chemicals in the affected area! (This means, sunscreen, shampoo and conditioner – yup, gloves in the shower, if it is what it takes – creams and lotions, too!) Try sunshine. Expose the affected area 10-20 minutes a day. Many people get amazing results! (I never have the patience to do it. I HATE warm sun on me. ) I've been dealing with this for many years. Constant attention to your skin (and a dermatologist's help) can help a lot, but when it flares up being better, we tend to ignore our skin. Try not to. Lucky Congratulations!
