How to Control Baby eczema

Baby eczema / excema / exzema is a common condition in children from around 2-3 months old. The most common form is atropic dermatitis characterized by dry, red and often itchy skin that can appear anywhere on the body but especially on the face, arms, neck and in the folds of the skin.

There may be several reasons for a child to develop eczema, but it is often hereditary, with other family members who suffer from complaints such as hay fever or psoriasis. With a very young baby it is hard to know what could be the likely cause, but there are a number of things that can be done to help eliminate the risk.

Eczema is an allergic condition and it's a good idea to remove any possible source of irritation.

When you start to introduce semi substances to a child suffering from eczema, to introduce one at a time to monitor whether it has any effect on eczema.

Some babies suffering from eczema also develop infantile seborrheic dermatitis or cradle cap, because it is more widely known. Unlike eczema not itch or cause discomfort, but nonetheless must be treated because it can form a very thick scab on scalp. Talk to your nurse about how to remove it and always treat it carefully because it is easily damage the skin surface and cause an infection.
