About Our Practice

Welcome!

Urology Associates of Danbury, P.C.’s quality care and focus on the individual has earned a strong reputation in the Danbury and surrounding communities. Our web site, like our offices, is designed to make you feel at home and at ease. We are proud of our facilities and our outstanding staff.

Our hope is that many of your questions about Urology and our practice can be answered here. Our qualified staff is online too, and you can e-mail us with your comments, questions and concerns.

Urology Associates of Danbury was founded in 1983. We provide urology care to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and senior patients. Our practice includes the diagnosis and treatment of a full spectrum of urology specific problems and male infertility. We have a long history of providing diagnostic and therapeutic consultations to the medical communities of western Connecticut and eastern New York.

Our medical practice consists of six full-time, board certified urologists. The doctors are affiliated with Danbury Hospital. Several of our physicians have been recognized as the best in their field by Connecticut Magazine and the Consumer Checkbook Reports Top Docs publications. We also employ two full time Physician Assistants.

We try to accommodate individuals for whom English may be a second language by providing translation for Italian, Spanish and Portuguese languages as our staffing permits. We do however encourage those patients to bring a translator of their choice when visiting our offices.

We pride ourselves on providing state of the art urology services to our patients. We also have a full range of written and video educational materials, which can help supplement your diagnostic and therapeutic consultation with our physicians.

Office Hours and Appointments

Appointments can be made by calling 203.748.0330. For our patient’s convenience, we generally see scheduled patients between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The telephones are answered by our office staff during those hours. At other times, our phones are forwarded to our medical answering service. One of our physicians is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you have an emergency, or need to speak to the physician on call, the answering service will contact the physician on call for you.

Patient emergencies sometimes occur which may interrupt the normal appointment schedule. If delays are likely to result because of an emergency, we will advise you as soon as possible and reschedule an appointment time that is most convenient for you.

Cancellation Policy:

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please call us at least 48 hours in advance. Failure to notify us of the cancellation could result in a cancellation fee of $50.00.


Emergency Care:

If there is no one in the office to take your telephone call, the answering service will always pick up the physicians’ telephone calls. The answering service will then contact the physician on call in the case of an emergency.

If you are calling our office after regular office hours and you consider your call a life-threatening situation, please direct your call to an Emergency Medical Response System such as 911.


Test Results

To ensure that we provide the best care, our physicians review all laboratory and x-ray results themselves. This includes blood work, urine tests, semen analysis, biopsy results, CT scans, ultrasounds, IVP and KUB results. Once the physician has reviewed the results, the patient is informed by phone, mail or office consultation. The process of obtaining and reviewing the test results may take as much as 10 days. If you have not heard from us after 10 days from the date of your test, please be sure to call our office.



Prescription Refills

Please allow our office 72 hours to process a prescription refill. You may request a refill using our online prescription refill form, or you may call our office directly at 203.748.0330 Ext 304. When calling from a touch-tone telephone, use prompt 4 to obtain the automated prescription message line. Please leave your full name, spell your last name, date of birth, medication and dosage and the name and phone number or location of your pharmacy.


Post Operative Visits

Usually our physicians want to see patients who have had surgery in the office. Our staff will contact you postoperatively to arrange these appointments. If you are not called within one week or if your physician asks you to call the office for an earlier appointment, please contact us 203.748.0330, extensions 121, 124, 117 or 120.

Referrals

Although at Urology Associates of Danbury we do everything possible to help facilitate your referrals, appropriate managed care referrals are the patient’s responsibility. We advise that you contact your primary care physician or your insurance carrier to assure that the proper referral is in place prior to your office visit.
